My project shows a number of events from the life of my grandmother Elena Tizhenko. When Dora Greenberg, my great-great-grandmother, got married in 1913, she was ordered to forget her Jewish origins. The stories from the life of her granddaughter, Elena, inspired me to create this project.
Dora gave Elena, a candelabrum. We found out that it is a Chanukiyah when we moved to Donetsk, where we began to communicate with the Jewish community. At the same time, my grandmother learned why the New Year was always celebrated in September. When the war started in Ukraine, we moved to Bila Tserkva. I started studying at a Jewish school, my Grandmother began to work in Jewish organizations. This is our return to our Jewish roots.
