The program enables students to explore and discover the Jewish elements of their identity, to get to know their family members who live in Israel and in the world, to explore stories that have been shared in their family for generations, to embrace their roots, and to deepen the connection to their family and the Jewish people. As part of the annual program, the students collect and record information about their family history by conducting interviews with relatives, creating a family tree, and carrying out research. When the students finish collecting all the information, they interpret their family story through a digital art project. The program “My Family Story,” initiated 28 years ago, has been launched in 26 countries around the world. So far, more than 80,000 Jewish students from more than 200 Jewish educational institutions have participated in the program.
