Burned Illusions & a Dream

Hanna Fichelson

While making this project, I was able to learn about the brave story of my great-grandfather, who, at just 17 years old and with nothing, bid farewell to his family in Bialystok forever. He foresaw that Poland was not a safe place for Jews to live. He arrived in Buenos Aires and gradually adapted to life there. He exchanged exchanged letters with his family until the Nazis invaded. I was able to read some of those letters, and I could see how they stayed connected and learned about their dreams, pains, and hopes.
