I decided to make a chess set because it represents life in a certain way, just like in chess, every move you make in your life is a move that defines your future, just as every piece of my history had to move in a certain way for me to be here. For me to have my story, my family, and my roots. The map of Israel on my chessboard is an analogy to a map under construction since my family teaches me that life is constantly being built. Additionally, my dad is a builder and my mom is an interior designer. My grandparents come from different parts of the world, but for now, we are here in my country, Mexico. However, my great-grandfather Joe's struggle for the creation of the state of Israel and the Zionism that I live with every day, especially with the current situation of our people, makes me wish that soon my whole family will gather in the incredible country of Israel that we love so much. The names of the places represent where the members of my family came from, and the last one that says "from Israel to Mexico" represents that for us, our country will always be Israel, and we long to return to the origin of our roots. On the board, we see pieces of two different colors: some silver ones representing the Sitt and Charabati families, and the golden ones representing the Marcos and Helfon families. The QR codes found on the pieces are photos or videos of some members of my family. And finally, the idea of chess came to mind because it is something that the grandchildren always played at the grandparents' house, and both my grandfathers, Isaac and David, loved chess and it was part of their lives. I hope you enjoy it!
