Every Person Has a Name and My Grandfather's Name is Me'ir

Noga Reizale Kutz's project for My Family Story 2021. ANU- Museum of the Jewish People.

Noga Reizale Kutz

Noga’s work commemorates her grandfather, Me’ir Kutz, who survived Auschwitz and lost his entire family in the Holocaust. In the exhibit Noga uses buildings that carry the letters of her grandfather’s name, and briefly depict the nation’s story – M marks the house of the family that perished;
E marks the Holocaust, and carries the number tattooed on her grandfather’s arm: B7021; I marks the Land of Israel, with a map of the country and the declaration of independence; R marks the resurrection, symbolized by the house her grandfather lives in today. Her grandfather’s story and its lessons were handed down to Noga as a memory for generations: the Jewish people marched from the Holocaust to resurrection, the Nation of Israel is alive!
