I am the sixth generation of my family. Inside my Kiddush cup are a USB with documents and photos of my relatives and a scroll with portraits and names of relatives from different generations. The cup is decorated with paintings by Marc Chagall and his picture "Over the Town" symbolizes the closeness between two loving people and the connection between my mother's and father's families, the Berkovich dynasty and the Gaslav dynasty.
For many Jews the Kiddush cup is a family symbol and has a spiritual value. My Kiddush cup preserves the story of our family and the names of my ancestors. During the research I discovered that my relatives spoke the language of our ancestors, Hebrew. I try to learn it and through it connect to the culture of our ancestors.
