The Oshi Family's Values

Shilat Oshi's project for My Family Story 2021. ANU- Museum of the Jewish People.

Shilat Oshi

Shilat’s exhibit describes the family’s value route. On the table are stones symbolizing the values which are the family’s fundamental foundation stones such as acts of giving and love, which helped the family overcome the hardships until they arrived in Israel. Shilat was inspired by her grandparents who emigrated from Morocco. We see the jewelry store opened by her Grandfather Jacky, and Grandmother Odette’s notebook for learning Hebrew. The notebook is testimony to Grandmother Odette’s strong desire to learn Hebrew. The COVID-19 mask is also in the exhibit to symbolize current difficulties. Shilat emphasizes that the family’s close ties, strong belief, and important values helped it overcome the difficulties of each period.
