In her work Chaya artistically expresses her love of cooking and her dream of being a cook. Couscous is one of the best-known dishes of Tunisian cuisine and Chaya is used to cooking it for her nine siblings. The recipe has been passed down in the family from generation to generation and is made for Sabbath and holiday meals. This passing down is depicted through a pot containing the ingredients for the dish. Chaya chose a recipe that her grandmother passed on to her by way of Chaya's mother. Nowadays many people use ready-made couscous as they do not know how to prepare it. In Chaya's family, food symbolizes the Sabbath and family.
